The Great American Melting Pot

    The Great American Melting Pot America is a magnificent country with a very rich history of diversity. We were founded on the notion that everyone has a right to practice their own religion. Through the years, that idea has evolved to a much deeper level. Over time, due to various economic and sociological reasons, several cultures were incorporated into one. While some of that integration was met with opposition, eventually all men have been made equal in the eyes of the law. Now, every man has the right to pursue life liberty and the pursuit of happiness in this country. So that leaves us with the question of how to view this country. Are we a melting pot of incorporated cultures and ideas, molded into one society? Or, perhaps we are looked at as merely a tossed salad, which has a good mixture of ingredients, but never blends together to make one item. I believe that we should educate our citizens on our history. In saying that, we need to emphasize the unity that our society has created rather than continue to highlight the diversity within. Therefore, the concept of E Pluribus Unum needs to be a concept taught on the most basic level to all of our youth. The concept of the American melting pot can be explored look
