American colonies experienced benign neglect by England during the era from 1607 to 1763. Americans gained control of their political and economical institutions by establishing trade with France, Spain, and Africa. The Chesapeake and New England regions, were two of the colonies most affected by world trade. The Glorious Revolution in England mandated that the king focus upon his country’s own problems.
