Rugby

Rugby originated from a schoool in Warwickshire, England, circa 1820. Thomas Arnold, a well-knowon headmaster at Rugby School, accepted the headmastership and was ordained in the church of England, in 1828. During Arnold\'s term as headmaster, he changed the curriculum in many ways, adding mathematics, modern history, and modern languages. As well, his presence set a code of conduct based on Christian morals, effectively destroying the false set of rules enforced by bullying. Rugby, a primitive form of soccer, was forever altered by a single person. William Web Ellis, a student attending Rugby School at the age of 16, was the first whose hands grasped that round ball during play in 1823. Ellis started the basis of running with the ball and the more physical aspects of the game. After Rugby school, Ellis went on the Oxford University in 1825, and eventually became chaplain at St. George\'s Chapel in Albermate, London. By 1830, running with the ball was considered customary. As in any sport, for competition to exist, a basis of rules must follow. There are many rules to the game of Rugby, for instance, there are no headtackles involved. Any hit from the neck up will result in your team being penalized. W
