Organizational Background
General Motors was founded in 1908. General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM) has become one of the world’s largest automotive corporation vehicle manufacturers. The company employs 341,000 employees and partners with over 30,000 supplier companies worldwide. GM has manufacturer operations in more than 50 countries. General Motors has interest in digital communications. GM has more than 260 major subsidiaries, joint ventures, and affiliates around the world. GM\'s vision is to be the world leader in transportation products and related services. GM sold more than 8.6 million cars and trucks, nearly 15 percent of the global vehicle market. GM\'s global headquarters is at the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit. Richard Wagoner is the chief executive officer, president, and chairman of GM. Wagoner is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of General Motors.
