OS2

    OS2 a bed time story Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Computeria there was a little OS (as some of the citizens of Computeria were referred to) called DOS. DOS was a good little OS, and he ran all the applications people wanted mostly Lotus 1-2-3 (an accounting spreadsheet). If there was a need to run more than one application, DOS simply stopped what he was doing and started something else. Dos was good and everyone in Computeria was happy. But time was not on Dos’s side; computers were becoming more powerful and more popular, computer users (as some of the other citizens of Computeria were referred to) required their computers to do more and more. One of the wizards of Computeria came up with the idea that perhaps people would like to run more than one a program at a time. The wizard took the idea to the castles of IBM and Microsoft who despite their apparent marriage still lived in separate castles. The two Parents of DOS, Microsoft and IBM (though some say DOS was adopted or worse yet stolen from his real parents), came up with the notion of replacing DOS or at least Getting him a brother, they wanted an OS which could run more than one application, and wouldn’t fear the dreaded 640k boundary.
