When Baird invented the television it is unlikely that he had imagined the scope of its use. In this new age of science and technology, television has proved to be the most important and cherished medium for entertainment and information exchange. The radio had and still has its following but it can in no way compare with the near mass-hysteria with which television is greeted. Television has gained such heights of popularity that for a very large number of people it has become an essential part of their lives.
