Music has been classified into large genres of music although new forms of music have sprouted up in the past 20 years. Today’s teenagers and some uneducated adults place classical and baroque into a much larger instrumental category. It is helpful for music fans to recognize the differences in origins of their music. The musical stereotypes put forth by today’s youth leaves them with very slim music choices and underexposure to the musical selections readily available. Modern popular music is crammed into a typical front that consists of “Pop” or popular music, “R&B” Rhythm and Blues, Country, Rap, Hip-Hop, Rock, Punk, Alternative, and Nu-Metal. All these styles are played on the radio and get massive air time and record label support and are over exposed to the youth of America.
