“I’m a personality as well as an actress,” Katharine Hepburn once declared. “Show me an actress who isn’t a personality and you’ll show me a woman who isn’t a star.” Named the top female Greatest American Screen Legend by the American Film Institute in 1999, Hepburn is one of the most prominent actors in Hollywood history. During her long, prosperous career she scraped together twelve Best Actress nominations at the Academy, winning four of them and cementing her status as an idol to many.
