JFK: An I Con In Organized Crime

    In 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was inaugurated as the 35th President of the United States. His campaign had been focused on the theory of change. Kennedy made it a point to illustrate to Americans exactly what needed to be done in order to restore the status of their society. “The president must be ‘willing and able to summons his national constituency to the finest hour – to alert the people of our dangers and our opportunities – to demand of them the sacrifices that will be necessary’” (Milkis and Nelson, p. 300). In addition to his solid campaign, Kennedy surrounded himself with a group of bright young politicians that enabled him to push his way to the top. As the youngest man to ever enter the Office of the Presidency, Kennedy was perceived to have the energy and stamina to accomplish the goals he had set.
