In the book I Heard the Owl Call My Name by Margaret Craven, it talks about how a young man, named Mark, goes to a Native American village, called Quee, and their he learns about the Native American life. It is a great story because it teaches you about other cultures and that life isn’t always what you see it as. It teaches a lot about life and how things are different in other cultures. Reading this book has increased understanding of life and world around us by showing that life in other cultures have things harder and have to work through things just as everyone has to do.
In the first part of the book ‘Yes My Lord – No My Lord’ Mark has been chosen to go to an Indian village to teach them about God and help them fix up the Indian church. Mark was also there to understand about their culture and bring a little of his into their lives. When he got there he did not understand any of the language and he had a real hard time fitting in around them. But after a while he had gotten to be use to them and how they lived their lives. “Oh, dear Lord, what am I going to do about this vicarage?”(Craven, 38) in this quote he shows that even though he is not in church or near his homeland that he
