“The Blue Room” starring Sigrid Thorton and Marcus Graham caused a sensation when it opened at His Majesties Theatre this weekend. David Hare’s modern take on Arthur Schnitzlers 1900 play, La Ronde is centered around a series of brief encounters between men and women searching for sexual satisfaction.
The play follows a chain of casual sexual encounters which are either erotic, illegal, vulgar, gentle, corrupt or dishonest. These occur between a diverse selection of characters – a prostitute and a cab driver, a politition and a model, an actress and an aristcrat – and the journey that they take in their relationship.
