Facility Management for Sport and Recreation
Temple University’s Independence Blue Cross Student Recreation Center (IBC) and Student Recreation Pavilion are extremely important parts of student life. Maintaining a safe environment for the people that use these facilities is of utmost concern. In order to guarantee the well being of our patrons, an effective risk management plan is needed. A solid program of managing risk also shows the University’s intent to act responsibly so as to decrease the risk of being subject to litigation. As facility managers, it is important to realize that we have a duty of care in the eyes of the law. If this duty is breached and in turn harm or injury is caused, the University is deemed negligent. A finding of negligence could have severe monetary penalties, therefore, it is in the best interest of the University to prevent such occurrences as best as possible.
