Love in the Cornhusks

Upon arriving in her senoritas house, Tinang had a brief but important dialogue with her senorita and through this dialogue, it could be inferred that Tinang was feeling the hardships of having married and bearing a child. There was also a hint of some sort that she was kind of regretting getting married but having nothing anymore to do about it, she just has to accept reality and face the consequences of her actions. Later on, she was told that there was a letter waiting for her at the post-office and having the queer belief that letters most often mean death, she hurried to the post-office scared and feeling paranoid. Upon getting the letter, she was surprised to know that the letter came from a then unknown person and thought that perhaps something happened to her sister. Carrying her baby in hand, she walked through the muddy streets to a field an then there; placed her baby on cornhusks then went to a nearby tree to read the letter. She then found out that it was from her past lover. Thoughts of her happy relationship flooded her mind and she was afloat on reminiscing those lovely times when out of the corner of her eye, she saw
