During the “roaring twenties,” America went through quite a few changes. The inventions of cars really took off and were sold left and right. Americans were able to enjoy the telephone for quicker communication, and they could even turn on the radio to catch the latest news of what was happening around the country. The crime rate was excessively higher than it had ever been before. Americans were breaking the law to get access to alcoholic beverages. Sports became very popular and took a lot of American’s leisure time. Out of all these changes, possibly one of the most drastic was that of the women. As sex became more popular and common, the women started to cut their hair short, smoke cigarettes, drink booze, and show a lot more skin than before. They wanted to become more desireable. These women became known as flappers.
