Why School Uniforms Are Good
Public school uniforms have always been an issue in schools all over the United Sates. Weather or not the uniforms work the way they are said to be, is the biggest issue. Many public schools have said no to uniforms before ever looking at the facts. Uniforms have helped many public schools all across the United States with multiple problems. School uniforms help students and a school by decreasing pressure from both students and parents, helping students concentrate on their schoolwork, and most importantly decreases violence.
Decreasing peer pressure is a big problem, which can be helped by the addition of uniforms to public schools. Students can sometimes put peer pressure on other students because of the clothes they wear. One example from Memphis Tennessee, says, “There isn’t competition, especially in grades 4,5, and 6, over who is wearing what.” (www.ed.gov) This comment was released one year after the uniform policy was started.
