Conflicts and Tensions: The Colonial Way.

    Colonial America was supposed to be a place where peace and most importantly, freedom spread across the land. As soon as the English landed in the western world, tension became a familiar face, and emotion. The natives of the land felt threatened, but tried to reason with the white man for purposes of peace, and prosperity. As the colonies of America grew, tension with the motherland of England grew also. England wanted to rule with a firm hand from across the sea, and the settlers were determined not to let that happen. The main focus on this essay is going to be pointed on the New England area, and some of the conflicts about the disagreement of certain taxes, battles, and triumphs that occurred in this historic region. This region was the starting point of wealth, health, and jealousy from the other colonies, and including England. In April of 1764, the First Lord of Treasury, George Grenville wanted to bring a measure to the British Parliament’s attention. The measure he was talking about happens to be the ground works of what would be known as the Revenue act, a.k.a. the Sugar Act.
