How Things Came To Be
How did seasons, earthquakes, hero’s and other things come to be? Thank-you madam chairperson good afternoon honourable judges ladies and gentleman fellow 4-H members and guests. If a river was flooded or a great catastrophe occurred the Greeks all thought they had done something wrong to make a god or goddess angry.
In ancient times the Greeks thought different gods and goddess inhabited the world, there was gods of the sun, moon, wind, rain, thunder, war, hunting, sea, and even wine. There were gentler gods like love, and marriage. Stories that were told about the gods or Greeks were called myths or mythology.
One well-known myth is the one about Hercules; it goes a little like this. One day Hercules became fill with anger and assassinated his wife and children. He had to complete 12 labours to prove that he was a hero not a villain and to free him from the guilt. He completed all 12 labours and then people thought as him to be a hero for saving people and a whole bunch of impossible tasks. Jason was another god that was first thought of being a villain. He captured the Golden Fleece this was the part they thought he was a hero but he promised Medea (a witch that helped him) that he would marry her
