The “Lusitania” was a British passenger liner, the biggest and fastest of her time. She was launched in May in 1907 and traveled on the trans-Atlantic route between England and the USA. She was torpedoed by a German submarine on 7th May 1915 near the south coast of Ireland and sank with heavy loss of life. However the actual cause of the sinking has remained a controversial topic to this very day. When the Lusitania sank in 1915, there was no doubt in the minds of the English people as to what had caused it to sink. The British believed the Germans were murderers because they attacked an innocent passenger liner with unarmed children, mothers and immigrants.
