Explain the techniques the Director John Duigan uses to establish the time, place and Danny’s character in ‘Flirting’.
The film ‘Flirting’, directed by John Duigan and produced by Kennedy Miller Productions and was released on 21 March 1991. The different types of techniques contributed to this film was by the Sound Department, the Director of Photography, the Director and the Producer who helped to express all the elements to make this film effective in its topic.
As the first scene emerges, I could see that this was the early morning, the sky formed a dark navy colour that blended into the night. I could hear the buzzing and chirping sounds of crickets as they moved around in the early morning of the night. These sounds helped create the rural sound of the outback. The first scene gives us a detailed outlook of the external construction of an old fashion building. This shot takes it’s place outside the building gate and sits there for a few seconds creating a still shot. This gives the viewer time to take a closer look into the building before the shot drawn us closer to the building, this motion is been created by ‘tracking’, this ‘tracking’ motion gives us the feeling of a new student entering t
