God the Father
In the Old Testament book of Genesis, God is portrayed as a father to the humans he creates. God provides everything the humans need, and he provides them with some things they want also. He spends time with all of his children. He shows mercy on them when they are both good and bad. God loves the humans like a father loves his own children.
Like any good father, God is a provider to his children in the book of Genesis. God provides for Adam and Eve. Moses writes, “[T]he Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food” (52). God creates everything that Adam needs. God even provides Adam with a wife when he sees that he has no compatible helper. God provides a ram for Abraham to sacrifice after he sees that Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac, his son.
