A Bird In The House: Death and
Love and Death scenes of Margret Lauence’s A Bird In The House book. Vanessa has
seen throughout the book there are three types of death; physical death, death of a
relationship, the death of a previous life or the death of a dream.
Vanessa has been through a lot of family deaths. Some of these deaths have been
un-preventable, such as the stillborn baby sister of her’s. When her grandfather Connor
died, it was un-preventable. He died of a stroke and Vanessa wasn’t even there. Also,
when Mr. Pearl was going through his death, her father was just there to watch him die.
Vanessa was very inconsiderate about his death, she talked grotesquely about it to her
grandfather, just to stand up for her father. Also, there were also some deaths that might
have been prevented. For example, her uncle Roderick died because his eye was shot out
and it made the war tougher for him. He might not have died if he hadn’t lost sight in his
eye or he didn’t lie about his age and
