Weight discrimination is a social issue that is increasing in the society. The demand that physical appearance put on people is cruel and demeaning. People who are larger than average, suffer from discriminatory attitude in many areas of their life. Being larger than average size it’s not something intentional, it is just something to happen to be either because of some glandular disorder, some health problem or because they eat a lot. But whatever the reason is, it cannot be blamed or discriminated. Unfortunately there are many aspects that have influence on weight discrimination.
Discrimination is not inborn. It is learned and developed. The image that people get from fat people is not something that they had it from the beginning. It is learned from childhood at school, from parents, friends and television.
People who are larger than average have to live with stereotypes in everyday life, but this become even worse when television reinforce these misconceptions.
