History
In 1948, Great Britain recognized the rights of the Jewish people to establish a national Jewish homeland in Palestine. This made Palestinians very angry because they believe that it is their God-given land. Palestine was split into Jordan and Israel. The Declaration of Independence of the modern state of Israel was announced on the day that British troops left Palestine. This day is known as “Al- Nakba” or the Catastrophe to Palestinians.
