PART 1: TRIP PREPARATION Welcome everyone! We are glad to finally reach our departure date, as it has seemed a lifetime; we are now ready to begin our journey. We hope that everyone is extremely excited, for we are about to embark on a journey that will open doorways to a world that most people will only dream of. We will be traveling to the beautiful, diverse country of Peru. Our stops will be in the city of Lima, various cities and towns of the Andes Mountains, and we will visit the ruins of Machu Pichu. Along the way, as a group, we will introduce the Peruvian people to self help projects to better their lives for ever. We will have the chance to visit a Catholic school and see Peruvian children engage themselves in woodworking, sewing, secretary classes as well as computer classes. We will have the chance to eat traditional Peruvian dinners and learn about the history and culture of the country. CARE work in Peru has evolved into development programs that focus on food, agriculture, community development, support for small business, education and health, as well as response to emergencies when needed.
