What is Oedipus' tragic flaw that cause him fall?

    My father once told me, ¡§you cannot escape fate, no matter what you do.¡¨ However, I do not agree with his saying. I believe everyone¡¦s life is in his or her own hands. Oedipus¡¦ flawed personality is what leads to his own misfortunate, not fate. At first, Oedipus does not believe the blind seer Teiresias¡¦ warning, who is a servant of Apollo, and he even tries to accuse Teiresias as murderer. He is too confident about himself and too proud to believe in others. His pride blinds him and leads him to make detrimental mistakes that set the events of the story into action and leads him to his misfortune. Although Teiresias is blind, yet he sees farther than others. In contrast to Teiresias, Oedipus has a bright sight, but he has been blind to truth for many years. Teiresias once warned Oedipus to believe in fate: ¡§Let me go home. Bear your own fate, and I¡¦ll bear mine. It is better so: trust what I say¡¨(206, 105-106).
