Prayer in School
When you hear someone or even when it may be you that brings up the topic of prayer in school you may receive a variety of different reactions. Usually you will find people who either is for or against prayer in school. Both sides have great arguments.
We all believe that the church we attend to and what we believe in is correct. However, imposing your beliefs on a person or group of people is thought of as disturbing, but something that goes against the founding of this country. Our nation was founded on the concept of religious tolerance and freedom. It is best to have prayer kept as a private ritual, not a public ceremony.
One must not lose sight of the fact that if everyone believes that their own religion is the truth, that they must see it as something that supersedes man’s rule. If it were ruled to bring prayer back in school there would be a religious leader from every denomination promoting their own religion and beliefs. Most of us that take our children to church would not want someone else’s beliefs pushed on our children. A prayer for Muslims is entirely different than a prayer for Christians. I feel our country is predominantly Christians and a Christian prayer would be a familiar prayer
