Guidelines for being able to function at work alertly
As the world keeps turning people keep working. Working is a part of our everyday lives. Work can be stressful at times, whether you’re sitting at a desk or working with machinery, driving, construction, or back breaking labor, whatever. People must be able to function alertly and responsibly at the work place because society and economy depends on our productivity. As an employee, there are a couple of major issues that people should take into consideration in helping employees maximize their functioning.
First and foremost I think sleep is the number one factor to take into account at the work place. It is necessary for maintaining life just as food or exercise. Eight hours of sleep is recommended for ultimate health and well-being. Even missing one or two hours of sleep can affect your productivity at the workplace. For those who work the night shifts generally get fewer hours of sleep per week than day workers. Drowsiness occurs at work more so with night shift workers than daytime workers, this is because the body has an internal alarm clock that awakens the day sleepers. People are sleepiest between 1 and 4a.m.; and then again twelve hours later between 1
