The World Book Dictionary describes the word guitar as “A musical instrument usually having six strings, played with the fingers or with a pick.” This definition meant so much more to one certain man. To him it was his way of releasing his soul for many to hear. His guitar was his life and without it, he probably would have been nothing. This man’s name was Andres Segovia.
Born on February 18, 1894 in Linares, Spain, Segovia is considered to be the father of the modern classical guitar movement. This title was not given to him loosely.
