    Great Works of Architecture Parthenon and Pantheon The architecture of the Greek and Roman periods are as different as the cultures themselves. Two great buildings that have remained timeless through the centuries are the Parthenon from the Greek period and the Pantheon or the Roman era. Drawing design of Parthenon The Parthenon was built between 447 and 438 BC by Ictinus and Callicrates. It was built as a dedication to the patron Goddess of Athens, Athena Parthenos. It was built in traditional style of Greek symmetry, as the Greeks paralleled their quest for harmony through mathematical rules. With eight columns adorning the ends and seventeen columns on the sides, it was a noble structure, standing tall enough to house the 40 foot statue
