Sticking to gender differences in chapter on Improving Interpersonal Relationships Alder and Rodman talk about Gender and Conflict Style. We all know that males and females handle problems and conflict totally different. Males are more likely to be more aggressive, demanding and competitive while females are more co-operative, less aggressive and will opt for a solution that involves talking. For this example I have some personal experience(s). There have been many times when someone or has something or done something to my girlfriend. Personally I don’t like when someone disrespects her, let alone me. So, me, being the male that I am take the problem into my own hands. My girlfriend has tired to solve the problem by talking or walking away, but when someone says something that disrespects her I can’t handle that. She may be able to, but I can’t. She has tried to pull me away and just forget about, but I can’t and I end up fighting and beating the guy up. That’s just how males are. We, well I know I am and so are my buddies, don’t like to talk about. If some guy or guys get stupid with us, we basically make them look stupid by beating them up.
