Antigone
In the play Antigone I have observed a variety of personality traits the character of Antigone portrays. At different times during the play, Antigone shows to be strong-willed, disrespects people, and desires popularity. Although these are not the only characteristics she exemplifies, I feel they are most important to describe her behavior through out the play.
The first characteristic Antigone demonstrates is being strong-willed. In the beginning of the play Antigone is talking with Ismene, her sister, telling her that she has plans to bury their brother Polyneices. Ismenes tells Antigone about the bad things that will happen if Antigone commits this crime: “But think of the danger! Think what Creon will do!” (Prologue. 34). Antigone would rather stand up for her family than for Creon’s law. She states, “I will bury the brother I love” (Prologue. 64). She is not afraid to die for a loved one: “I am not afraid of the danger; if it means death, /
