The Cluniacs and the Papacy
In our world today, there are many religious orders present. Whether they are fir a good
cause or a bad one. Both the Cluniacs and the Papal orders had come into the Catholic religion
and brought a sense of control in the religion. These two orders set out responsibilities in the
Catholic religion also. The responsibilities will be outlined and summarized in the following
paragraphs.
The religion order of the Cluniacs was a Christian order which was established in
91A.D. by William of Aquitaine at the monastic foundation in Cluny, France. It was
established as a revival movement based on the Benedictine order, and stressed biblical
scholarship and elaborate church ceremony. Th city of Cluny was the central station of the
Cluniac order. The Cluniacs reforms extended to other monasteries in Germany, Italy, Spain,
and England. The main function of the Cluniac order was to control the what the Bible taught.
The order said that only the truth may be told and it must be taught the way that it is presented.
