Chemical Activity
1. Abstract
In the chemical activity lab, we needed to find out which compounds would react with the given elements. We hypothesized that zinc (Zn) would react with copper nitrate (Cu(NO3)2) and lead nitrate (Pb(NO3)2). We were given six compounds of various nitrates and we had to put each nitrate in their own designated wells so we could later add the other elements such as: Copper (Cu), Magnesium (Mg), Iron (Fe), Lead (Pb), Nickel (Ni), and Zinc (Zn), to see which would react with the various nitrates. After we experimented, we got half a dozen reactions. These reactions were between iron and copper nitrate (iron turned black), zinc and copper nitrate (formed black fuzz around it), lead and copper nitrate (formed a bit of black fuzz on it), zinc and iron nitrate (zinc turned reddish, while the nitrate turned darker yellow), zinc and lead nitrate (formed a huge layer of black and white fuzz), and also magnesium and lead nitrate (form
