Two Ways to Hunt Snow Geese
Snow geese can be hunted two ways. One way a snow goose can be hunted is by using decoys and calling the geese into the decoys. Another way snow geese can be hunted is by stalking up on the flock and shooting them. One of these two ways is fun and ethical. The other way is fun, but it is more like murder.
The fun and ethical way to hunt snow geese is to set out decoys and call the snow geese into the decoy spread and shoot them. This takes a lot of work. The hunt begins an hour and a half before daylight. The reason for this is that decoys have to be set up. It takes a lot of decoys to hunt snow geese. How much is a lot? Five hundred goose decoys are a good spread. I have seen as much as fifteen hundred decoys out before in a spread. There are many different kinds of decoys out on the market today. Full body decoys are available, but they are expensive. Full body decoys cost about $120.00 per 6. Another type of decoy is a shell decoy. Shell decoys cost about $150.00 a dozen. Another type of decoy is a silhouette decoy. These decoys are close to life like, because they are photocopies of geese put onto a decoy. Silhouett
