Is Mark Twain a Racist

    Many characters is the book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain were affected my racism, but one will stick out in your mind more than the others, and that is the slave Jim. Jim has to runaway, fight and stand up for what he believes is right before he is sold. Mark Twain the author of Huckleberry Finn was born and grew up in a time period were the slaves were being treated horrible. Many experts say the Mark Twain is a racist himself and have proof the back it up. ?Mark Twain is looked down upon many times throughout the but Huckleberry by the way he uses the word nigger.? (Peter Salwen). During the time period that Twain grew up in many of the experiences that he writes about could have very well happened in his very life. Like when Twain talks about Jim getting sold at an auction. The town that Twain grew up in, Hannibal Missouri was a slave town for most of Twains life. ?It is important to remember that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was written after the Civil War.?
