Human Evolution can be defined as the change an organism undergoes through a period of time. Humans have undergone many significant stages of changes through time. The most significant being the development of the human body in general brain size and body structure. The human race has spread all over the world, the first sight of man is unclear there are estimates to where the first human was found.
One way man has evolved over time is the brain. One of the earliest human to be found was during the Homo habilis period 2.2 – 1.6 million years ago (Mcnamme, 1982,p.42) Researchers found that humans in this era had a brain capacity between 500-650 mL. The homo habilis was known to be the handy man because, researcher found tools with the fossils of these humans. During the Homo erectus period 1.8 – 0.3 (Leakey, 1977,p.196) million years ago the brain capacity of a human had increased to between 750-1250 mL (Leakey, 1977,p.196). As the brain increased it is known that humans during this era developed weapons, tools, and learned to build a controlled fire, but it is still not known for sure that they had any kind of speech or communication developed.
