Nationalism and Ethnic Conflicts in Transcaucasus. Causes an
Today, many people are informed about nationalism. It becomes an actual political topic for debates nowadays. But, few people got down to the core of nationalism, how it aroused and developed. Some scholars think that nationalism emerged when the first people appeared in the World. The others believe that Nationalism is a form of extreme patriotism and suggest some ways how to avoid it or consider it as a form of Zionism. However, recent researches show that Nationalism came up with the creation of nations and has been developing consequently. Generally, nationalism is a feeling among group of people related with blood, race, color and language which expresses their peculiarities and privileges over the other nations. But, what is the nation? The most notorious interpretation of the nation was given by Ernest Renan. He thinks that “a nation is a grand solidarity constituted by the sentiment of sacrifices which one has made and those that one is disposed to make again. It supposes a past, it renews itself especially in the present by a tangible deed: the approval, the desire, clearly expressed, to continue the communal life.
