Different Types of Internet Connections
The Internet is a method of communication and a source of information that is becoming more popular among those who are interested in, and have the time to surf the information superhighway. The following essay will discuss the different ways of connecting your home or business to this superhighway of information. In my essay I will discuss 3 main types of internet connections: Cable, Digital Subscribers Line (DSL) and of course Dial-up.
An ISP, or Internet service provider, is a company that provides customers and businesses access to the Internet. There are two main technologies that are profoundly impacting the way people access the Internet: dial up which has the standard speed of 56kbs (kilobits per second), and the broadband area that boasts speeds up to 1.5Mbps (Megabits per second). When a customer or business chooses what kind of connection they want many factors should be looked at like, how fast do you need your downloading speed, how reliable, and how much money you are willing to pay.
