Can a machine think?
We, human beings, claim that we are the smartest beings in the world. We are the only kind of being that have the ability to think and act in this certain way. It is almost sixty years that we human beings invented the first computer, and it is just about that long since the first speculations about the possibility that computers can have artificial intelligence. Can a machine think? It is an interesting question that we, human beings, have always wondered. There are even movies about the artificial intelligence in the future conquers human beings and take over the world. In my opinion, machine does think and the machine somehow works like a human’s brain.
According to functionalism, the mind does not have to be associated with a brain; in other words, machine can function as a mind and this is the reason that machine thinks. Before getting into the topic, we need to know what “think” is. The lexical meaning of thinking is to have or to formulate in a mind and to decide by reasoning, reflection, or pondering. In our, human being’s, brains, we make decisions through analyzing from the past experiences and knowledge we have and to come up with a conclusion of what to do or act. Isn’t it j
