Sunset Boulevard Analysis

    The film Sunset Boulevard reveals many of the unknown harsh realities in Hollywood. Norma Desmond was an example of a retired star that got the reality of her life and fiction of the screen blurred together. What contributed to Norma acting this way is the warped Hollywood culture of ego, vanity and delusion of glamour. During Hollywood’s silent era , the stars did have faces that were accompanied by magical names. Their fans expected them to be just as perfect and “magical” in their real lives, just as they saw in films. To go from being a big star to aging and no longer making films and being in the glamour or the entertainment business is not something easy to accept. The sexual trap that Joe gets into shows the twisted morals and ethics that existed in the so-called Hollywood Tinsletown. Just like Joe, the few fortunate people that actually do make it to Hollywood’s society encounter a world of corruption, manipulation and deceit.
