Strictly Ballroom
Strictly Ballroom Essay:
Strictly Ballroom is one of the most successful films of all time. What Characteristics of this film do you think have led to its success?
Strictly Ballroom, directed by Australia’s own Baz Luhrmann, is one of the most successful movies of all time. The characteristics of this film, which have led to its worldwide success, are the editing and the style of directing that Baz Luhrmann present’s to the audience, as well as the characters and the storyline of the film. The themes, which are presented, both throughout the movie and in the distinct and unique production of the film, have contributed to its victory.
The unique production style used throughout the movie is easily intriguing, as Luhrmann allows his viewers to closely interact with the characters and give insight into their role in the film. At the beginning of the film, the editing is very sharp, as it quickly shoots from a musical scene with Scott dancing, to what appears to be a ‘one on one’ interview with certain characters of the film. This allows the audience to interact and to become more familiar with the characters. It allows us to have an insight into the characters and what their opinions are of their fellow actors roles
