why france will dominate world rugby
Rugby is a minor sport in France, compared to football, but since FFR was formed 80 years ago, France has been one of the leading powers of world rugby. France won the Grand Slam in 2002 when they took apart England and in the same year, Fabien Galthie won the International Rugby Board’s Player Of the Year award. Even though they are ranked 4th in the world, their exceptional world cup record and calibre of players, led to them being labelled as the dark horses for the 2003 world cup. Unfortunately for France, they lost to England in the semi-finals, but the tournament allowed Les Bleus to show the world the quality of their young players such as Frederik Michalak and Imanol Harinordaquy. This balance of young players and experienced internationals will put France as favourites for future competitions. The French past, present and future matches will prove their dominancy in world rugby.
