Life's Test (poem the Crucible)

    Life’s Tests A common saying in today’s society is: “What doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger.” This saying is not only true today but was also true during the late 17th century when the play The Crucible took place. Throughout life we, as humans, all experience tests that build up our character and make our own beliefs even stronger. In some cases these same test can shatter everything, causing us to forget the wisdom we have learned. In this play, the characters Abigail William’s, Rev. Hale, and John Proctor all had test that helped determine their character. Abigail Williams was a teenage girl living in Salem during the late 17th century. She was an orphan after her parents were murdered right beside her while they were asleep. She survived this crisis but instead of using it to learn from, she chooses to use it to hurt people. Since her parents have dies she has been living with her uncle, the Reverend Parris. It is here where she gets caught up in conjuring spirits and where her bitterness truly begins to show. She uses her experiences to threaten the other girls if the tell the adults about her drinking blood. When talking to her past love r John Proctor she confesses that she still loves him and that the
