Increase use of plastic surgery
Are you tired of your nose being too big? Do you have one minute deformity that just seems to throw your whole physical charm off? Plastic surgery can be your ticket to the perfect look; all your worries and woes of what people think of your appearance can vanish with one surgery. Whether you are for plastic surgery or against it, there is no getting away from it. Our society has become one of superficiality and this is very apparent in almost everything that we encounter in everyday life. The one thing that successfully contributes to this pathetic fact is the media. Sadly enough, the media is our number source for the shaping and molding of our perceptions. Every American comes in contact with media of all forms that expresses the “perfect look” of a human being. With this being expressed more and more to people it has desensitized us from the morals of plastic surgery, which in turn has become more socially acceptable. Whatever the reason may be, according to an article in The Star Phoenix, more than 7.4 million North Americans had cosmetic surgery in the year 2000.
