Quite Contemplation
K-PAX, which is directed by Iain Softley, is a science fiction drama starring Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. Charles Leavitt adapted the thought provoking story based on Gene Brewer's 1995 novel. The movie told the story of “Prot“, a mental patient at the Psychiatric Institute of Manhattan, who claimed to be from another planet called “K-PAX“. The medical staff at the hospital diagnosed Prot as delusional and placed him under the care of Dr. Mark Powell for treatment. Once in Dr. Powell's capable hands, however, Prot provided some convincing evidence making people believe he could be from another planet. The question the film asks the audience to answer is whether Prot is from another galaxy or whether he is Robert Porter, a man suffering from amnesia and delusion due to the tragic death of his wife and daughter. Upon viewing the movie, the audience could conclude that Prot is an alien for the following reasons: he had physical abilities that were beyond human capability and he had knowledge of things that no one else knew.
