Why is The Red Pony a Good Read
The Red Pony written by John Steinbeck, opens up some of the harsh upsets of American ranch life for a young boy. It shows how caring for someone to much can sometimes end in sorrow, and what growing up is all about.
Steinbeck uses in accessions some description that you don’t remember reading, this aids throughout the story, images become clear in your mind and you can almost feel like the characters. The character that I thought was the most real was the hand, Billy Buck is man who has become basically part of the family over the years, he cares for Jody nearly as much as Jody’s father Carl. The surrounding of the ranch I could really picture especially the brush line, the run away
