Joy Luck Club
Joy Luck Club is a movie of four mothers and four daughters, and their struggles of life. The movie is divided into four sections; each section tells a story of a mother daughter relationship form both persons perspective.
The first section is about the life of June Woo and her mother. The mother was escaping some kind of civil war of China. June’s mother had two twin babies at the time. She feared that she would die and not be able to take care of her children; she abandoned the children with all her valuables. She continued her journey and passed out along the way. She was rescued and immigrated to America. She gave birth to June in America. The mother pressures June to play the piano to bring out the hidden genius in her. After being embarrassed at recital June refuses to play.
Another section of the movie is about Rose Hsu Jordan and her mother An-mei Hsu. An-mei was raised as a child by her grandparents and later her mother. An-mei’s mother was a concubine to a man with several wives. She was treated by the man as an object of sexual ple
