It’s a Wonderful Daisyworld
When Sir James Lovelock, an English scientist, came up with the Gaia hypothesis, the scientific community ridiculed him. He believed that the biosphere was a “Super-system” capable of regulating its chemical and physical environment. To prove his theory right, Lovelock, with the help of Andrew Watson, created the Daisyworld model. Daisyworld is the model of a hypothetical planet, say Planet D. Its purpose is to prove that a self-regulating system, without previous unconscious planning by the organisms, can develop just through life and its material environment.
