Liechtenstein is a tiny Principality in Europe located between Austria and Switzerland. The entire country is only sixty square miles, which is one hundred sixty square kilometers. The western third of the country is occupied by the Rhine river flood plain. While once marshy this area was drained in the 1930s and now yields rich soil very suitable for farming and other agriculture. The eastern part of the country, where the capital and only large city, Vaduz, lies is mountainous, covered in evergreen forests and beautiful valleys. The mountains contain three valleys which are drained by the Samia River. Population is around 27,700.
