    “Copernicus and Darwin are each credited with starting revolutions in how we understand the universe; in what way do their “Eureka’s” serve as examples of the scientific approach?” Since the beginning of time, people have wondered about the things around them; Why are they there? What are they made of? How did they get there? And so on… So, there have always been methods of getting to the bottom of these questions. For centuries one could just come up with an answer; whether it had any basis of truth was irrelevant, and argue it until people just began to believe it. Centuries later a major breakthrough in the process of explaining these phenomenon began to occur. Scientists began to follow sets of recorded steps, which eventually led to an incontestable conclusion. One example of such people was Nicolas Copernicus, an ancient astronomer who argued that the universe was Heliocentric (that the earth, spinning on a tilted axis, revolved around the sun yearly). His views were met with a great amount of controversy, especially from the church. By speculating this, Copernicus was going against the religious outlook that was most prevalent at the time.
